Chief Darren Gault is a dedicated father, husband, friend and professional. He has been married to his wife Michele for 24 years and together they have three wonderful children. The timing to serve at IACP works well for the Gault family as all three of the kids are in college to pursue their next chapter. The Gault's are a family of public servants with Chief Gault and his wife serving the public for two and a half decades. His wife, Michele is a Registered Nurse. Their oldest daughter is studying to be a doctor, their middle daughter studying at to be a teacher and their son is planning to be a police officer. Chief Gault leads a team of 84 sworn police officers and a total of 113 employees. The Moline Police Department is located in heart of the Midwest, in between Chicago, Illinois and Des Moines Iowa. The department has a $16 million budget and handles over 50,000 calls per year. Chief Gault was hired in 1998 by the East Moline Police Department. Following in his uncle's (left) shoes, he embarked on a journey of public safety serving a diverse community with a quest to make it safer place for all. After serving in almost every role at EMPD over a 21 year career, he retired and took the police chief job in Moline, Illinois where he has served since 2019.
For several years Chief Gault was assigned to the FBI Gang Task Force. These task forces pursue violent gangs through sustained, proactive, coordinated investigations to obtain prosecutions on violations such as racketeering, drug conspiracy, and firearms violations. Chief Gault worked numerous cases involving gang activity in the Quad Cities.
In 2006, then Sgt. Gault, was asked to start an undercover street crimes unit. The unit was extremely successful and drastically changed the crime in East Moline. Darren and Chad took down major drug operations, street gangs and violent criminals. Throughout his career, Chief Gault has found success in teams and developed an outstanding reputation.
Patrol is the backbone of every police agency. In 2008,then Lt. Gault had been promoted and returned to the patrol division on the midnight shift. Chief Gault understands the toll that shift work takes on the family and mental health of officers. He believes strongly in officer wellness
Chief Gault spent 6 years in charge of the Criminal Investigation Division. He oversaw the school resource officer program, general crimes, juvenile, special operations, gangs and narcotics detectives assigned to the division. He focused on developing detectives and cultivating high performing teams.
Chief Gault is a licensed US Soccer Federation coach and spent 19 years coaching youth soccer. He also served as the Director of Coaching for Quad Cities Rush and spent many years on the Board of Directors. He coached both boys and girls teams to exceptional success,
